Land use attorney Chris Hatcher advises real estate developers, builders, nonprofits, financial institutions, and property owners on navigating the regulatory and political processes for development in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties. As one of his developer clients says, “Chris’s unique combination of technical expertise, people skills, and drive make him extremely effective,” citing his “knowledge of the process, as well as his ability to make personal connections with key people.”
Chris is experienced in municipal law, land use, zoning, subdivision, urban planning, historic preservation, environmental issues, and other real estate development matters for mixed-use, residential, and office developments throughout Maryland. He regularly appears before the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources, and the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services on entitlement and development approvals. He works closely with development team members–including architects, engineers, and land planners–to create presentations for community stakeholders, administrative bodies, and municipalities. He enjoys building relationships, and counts many of his clients among his closest friends.
Chris was a Hewlett Packard Scholar at Morehouse College and a Leadership Scholar at the University of Maryland Law School, before completing the Asper Judicial Fellowship with the Honorable Susan Gauvey of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation. He also has lectured on land use issues at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.
